Presenting our 2005-06
Concert Series

Concert One

Thuringer Salon Quintett -- Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005-- 8:00 PM

With a repertoire ranging from the virtually forgotten vestiges of 18th Century European music to the chic 20th Century sounds of legendary American composers, the Thuringer Salonquintett represents one of the most long-lasting and successful combinations of instruments to evolve from the coffeehouse (or "Kaffeehaus") tradition. Comprised of two violins (one doubling on viola), cello, double bass and piano, this group is committed to the very spirit of the Kaffeehaus movement of the late 1800’s - to create a light-hearted, inviting atmosphere by unabashedly integrating elements from different cultures.

Concert Five

Nathan Granner, vocalist -- Monday, Apr. 10, 2006 -- 8:00 PM

Nathan Granner’s mix of "golden age" timbre and exuberant, daring character on the stage have garnered accolades from Opera News, Opera Now, The New York Times, London Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. He has made leading principal debuts with notable companies including Wolf Trap Opera, Opera Theatre Saint Louis and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Twice he has sung with the National Symphony Orchestra and has been a regional and semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. And with all of this accomplishment, he has still found time to serve as Artistic Director of "Musical Theater Heritage," which produces Night on the Town radio program, hosted by Geaorge Harter and Night of Song, featuring intimate nights of musical theater and opera. He is also one of the members of "The American Tenors," who have recently completed their first album on Sony Classical/ Odyssey.
